Encore on the Lake, an Independent Living Community, Opens in Canonsburg
(WASHINGTON, PA) –January 7, 2022 – Encore on the Lake, a new senior-living membership community, opened its doors for its first residents in mid-December. Located approximately 20 miles southwest of downtown Pittsburgh, the four-story building offers 80 apartment homes as part of an independent living residence. The building will be home to active adults who want to be part of a service-enriched community.
Encore on the Lake allows residents to access multiple resources within one senior living community as their health and wellness needs change over time. This includes future access to higher levels of care, if needed, at a licensed Presbyterian SeniorCare Network personal care, assisted living or assisted living dementia care community.
“This unique membership community is designed to promote wellness, vitality and a socially engaging, independent lifestyle,” said Bobbi Jo Haden, Vice President of Retirement Services for Presbyterian SeniorCare Network.
The property is located on a privately owned residential peninsula and surrounded by Canonsburg Lake on the easternmost edge of North Strabane Township. This location offers residents convenient access to local and national retailers, restaurants and health and wellness services. Meanwhile, the property itself offers a natural setting with the lake, woods, wildlife and outdoor terraces that lend themselves to exploring and enjoying outdoor activities.
The new building meets a growing need in the community: trends show that 21% of the current population of North Strabane Township and the Canonsburg area is over age 65. That number is expected to increase by 17.1% by 2023. “Encore on the Lake provides community residents with more senior living options. They can remain in the area where they have established personal, civic and community relationships,” said Haden.
